Violet by Wassily Kandinsky Exhibition

Violet reflects Wassily Kandinsky's late exploration of colour as an independent subject, a preoccupation that runs through his Bauhaus and later Paris-period work. Kandinsky believed specific colours carried their own emotional register — violet, for him, sat at the more contemplative, interior end of his palette. Geometric forms in muted and saturated tones play against one another, characteristic of Kandinsky's mature, fully abstract style.
